Lubango — The executive director of the Organising Committee of the African Cup of Nations (COCAN-2010), António Mangueira, Tuesday in Lubango, expressed satisfaction at the pace in the preparation for the construction of the local stadium for the games of one of the groups of the competition.
Speaking to journalists at the end of the swearing-in of COCAN-2010 Huila Provincial Monitoring Commission, Antonio Mangueira, who is also the deputy chairman of the Angolan Football Federation (FAF), said the works are going at a good pace and will for sure meet the deadline.
After visiting the site where the stadium is being built, he said he was satisfied at what he saw, with ground levelling works in progress that will be followed by excavations for the foundations.
"We have visited the site for the construction of the Lubango stadium from where we received explanations from the contractor about the general programme of construction of the stadium.
We have been informed about the situation of the work yard and we became satisfied learning that the cleaning of the place has started," he stressed.
On the other hand, the official spoke of the need for the start of the evaluation of the supporting infrastructures like hospitals and hotels, so the organising constraints are identified and dealt with ahead of the time of the competition.
The football stadium under construction in Lubango, southern Huila province, for the 2010 African Cup of Nations (CAN), is designed for 25 spectators.
Other provinces of Angola that will host the competition are Luanda, Benguela and Cabinda, where stadiums will also be constructed for that purpose.
