The remains of the late Angel Togba, which has been buried for almost two months now is to be exhumed and undergo the third autopsy which is slated to take place on April 19, 2008 by three certified forensic pathologists from the U.S.A.

Cllr. Musa Dean, who is defending the accused, Hans Williams and Mardia P. Williams, who were sometime this year charged by the government of Liberia with murder and subsequent rape, told newsmen yesterday that they have received authorization from the Ministry of Justice to carryout the third autopsy.

According to Cllr. Dean, the second autopsy report, which was carried out by Dr. Hernandez from Cuba was disturbing because as he said it reached the conclusion that the late Angel was 'sexually violated and strangulated before the hanging' and has since challenged the findings.

He however noted that as a means of balancing the information leading to the death of the late Angel, three forensic pathologists basically from the Nebraska Institute of Forensic Sciences, Inc. (NIFS) in the U.S would travel to Liberia on April 18, 2008 to examine the remains of little Angel on April 19.

The three pathologists who are all Americans, accordingly, would also review the photographs and reports of the first and second autopsies, while they will be available to examine the preserved organs of the deceased and shall present within a very short time, a credible report supported by medical evidence.

He further disclosed that the team of forensic pathologists would at the same time extract samples from the late Angel's body to conduct a DNA analysis for the benefit of transparent justice.

Cllr. Dean, as part of the process has respectfully requested the Ministry of Justice to allow the remains of the late Angel be exhumed on April 19, 2008 at which time the pathologists would be present to avoid delay and to ensure ultimate respect for the remains and the family of the deceased.

The Dean & Associates Law Firm also request the Ministry of Justice to release official letters of approval to all parties involved, including the funeral home, the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, the criminal investigators and the deceased's parents.

Given the high level of emotionalism and sensationalism that has attended the ongoing case; The Dean & Associates has however requested the Justice Ministry to accord its doctors the necessary security protection throughout their stay in the country.

Of late, two autopsies were conducted on the remains of the late Angel. The first was by Dr. Anthony S. Quayee, the Medical Examiner, Liberia National Police and Dr. Hernandez from Cuba but unfortunately the results did not reach the satisfaction of the defense lawyers.
