Namibia: Calling U15 Cricket Players

The Namibia Cricket Board will hold trials to select a national Under 15 team to compete in the upcoming African Cricket Association Championships.

Trials for Under 15 players who were born in Namibia or who possess a Namibian passport will be held at the Wanderers field in Pionierspark from 14h30 on April 16 to 13h00 on April 19.

Namibian children who are studying abroad and cannot attend the trials should contact the NCB at fax number 061 - 223818 or at cricket@iway.na They should provide their name, email address, telephone number and date of birth to confirm their eligibility for participation.

The NCB will then send them all the necessary details regarding the tournament.

Cricket correction It was reported in Monday's issue of The Namibian that members of the ICC's staff in Dubai were taking bets on the outcome of the match between Namibia and Scotland, that Namibia won dramatically by one wicket on Sunday.

Laurie Pieters of the Namibia Cricket Board however said that they were not taking actual bets, but that they were just very interested in the outcome of the match and phoned him for an update on the score every three minutes.

The victory gave Namibia a great chance to reach the final of the ICC Intercontinental Cup competition.

Namibia now leads the log with 82 points from five matches, followed by Kenya (66 points from four matches), Ireland (49 points from three matches), and the Netherlands (48 points from five matches).

Namibia's remaining matches in the competition are away to Bermuda in September and at home to Ireland in October.
