Monrovia — A member of the Liberian parliament has expressed annoyance over the delay in the ongoing bribery probe which, he said, has the propensity to undermine the integrity of the House of Representatives.
River Gee County Representative Albert S. Toe said the continuous delay into the investigation could create negative perception in the minds of the Liberian people and the international community about the credibility of the House.
He called on the House Judiciary Committee investigating the alleged bribery scandal to speedily conclude and release findings into the case.
In a release, Rep. Toe who also Co-chairs the House Committee on National Defense, described evidence containing voices of some lawmakers submitted by former Speaker Edwin M. Snowe as 'criminal mischief' and should not be admissible.
He challenged Rep. Snowe to produce additional evidence to substantiate his claim.
Meanwhile, Rep. Toe is appealing to the public to exercise restraint and assured Liberians that members of the House were committed to the fight against corruption and other vices.
In another development, Montserrado County Rep. Edmond T. Barclay has commended the US Navy Team currently in the country for the clinical supplies donated to the newly constructed Logan town Clinic and the Road Rehabilitation work underway in the community.
He said the supplies would further enhance the working atmosphere of nurses in providing professional services to the people of district number 11, while the road rehabilitation work will help ease the free flow of vehicles as well as goods and services.
