The President of the Republic of Sudan, General Omar Hassan Ahmed Al-Beshir, today conducted an official working visit to Eritrea.

Presidents Isaias Afwerki and President Omar Hassan Al-Beshir held talks at the State Palace on developing bilateral relations, enhancing partnership in trade and investment and Eritrea's role in ensuring a comprehensive peaceful solution in the Sudan, as well as other regional and international issues.

In a statement he gave to journalists following the talks, President Al-Beshir indicated that the visit is a continuation of previous consultations between the two leaders. He underlined that the satisfactory developments registered in political relations between the two countries provides solid groundwork for ties in other domains.

The Sudanese leader further pointed out that both Presidents also held discussion on the Darfur issue and lauded President Isaias' special concern on the issue.

President Isaias, ministers and senior PFDJ officials accorded warm welcome and send off to President Omar Hassan Al-Beshir at the Asmara International Airport.

The Sudanese President was accompanied by different ministers and senior government officials, including Dr. Nafie Ali Nafie, Presidential Assistant; Bekri Hassan Saleh, Minister of State; Dr. Mustafa Osman Ismail, Presidential Advisor; and Azubier Ahmed Al-Hassan, Minister of Energy and Mines.
