In case of victory, Cotonsport will take over the leadership of the championship.

Late day 19 matches in the ongoing MTN Elite One championship will be played in some stadiums across the country today. The matches were postponed due to the involvement of Cotonsport, Mount Cameroon and Astres of Douala in continental competitions last Sunday. In Garoua, local side, Cotonsport will lock horns with Unisport of Bafang. A victory for the cotton weavers will propel them to the top of the classification table. Canon of Yaounde currently tops the charts with 37 points, barely two points ahead of Cotonsport with 35 points. A victory for Cotonsport will therefore see the seven-time winner of the elite championship; take a good option towards winning their 8th championship title.

However, Unisport are no ride-overs. Unisport has regained its good shape of the interpool days and the beginning of the elite championship. After flirting with the relegation zone for some time, Unisport has moved up the classification table to a comfortable fifth position. No doubt, they will be seeking to continue their upward movement on the charts and can as well thwart the hopes of Cotonsport.

Ever since relocating to Douala, Fovu of Baham has transformed from an underdog to one of the major contenders of the championship title this year. Though the decision was criticised by some trainers and supporters, it has paid off as Fovu who escaped relegation by a hair's breadth last year, currently occupies the 3rd position with 32 points. With the championship title in sight, they will be striving to either win it or win a ticket for continental competitions next year when the clash with Astres of Douala.

Besides the battle for leadership of the league table, there will also be a battle of survival in Buea when bottom-placed; Foudre of Akonolinga will be meeting with Mount Cameroon. Foudre is currently last on the classification table with 16 points, 2 points behind the first team below the relegation line, Lion Ngoma on the 14th position with 18 points. Tonnerre Yaounde is still in the red at the 15th position with 17 points. A victory for Foudre will propel the club to the 14th position and this may well be the beginning of an upward movement out of the relegation zone.
