Bamenda (Mezam) — Joe Chebonkeng and the Rev Donald Ndichafah are now at the helm of the Cameroon Baptist Convention (CBC). The Extra Ordinary Session of the Cameroon Baptist Convention (C.B.C) that ended in Njinikejem, Belo Sub division on 5 April 2008 resulted in a change at the head of the institution.
The three-day session with the theme, " Reconciling the world to Jesus Christ" elected Joe Chebongkeng, a Journalist at CRTV and Rev. Donald Ndichafah to take the Convention forward as President and General Secretary respectively. Both faithfuls of the church succeeded Dr. Samuel Wanki and Rev. Charles Tangwa.
The Session was an extension of the abortive Session in Limbe last year following dissenting voices from some C.B.C Fields in the Coastal area. This time around, the Extra Ordinary Session featured reforms to instill harmony within the Convention. It was also a rare moment to salute efforts by the C.B.C to lift the Education, Health and Evangelism image of the nation with Services that speak.
Staring the new leadership on the face are challenges that require faith, commitment and hope. The Convention is currently rocked by dissenting voices from the Belo and Coastal Fields with allegations of marginalisation and the Ministry of schools which is not the best with long months of accumulated salaries for teachers.
