Kuito — No death caused by cholera has been recorded over the last five months in Angola's central Bie province, local health authorities said Wednesday in Kuito, the capital city.
The head of the Centre of Diagnosis and Treatment of Cholera, Frederico Samoma, said that although new cholera cases were diagnosed, the institution has not recorded any death since October last year.
According to him, this is due to the implementation of programmes and actions by the local Government, aiming at the eradication of the illness in the region. Since April 2006, when the first case was recorded in the province, 30 people died, out a total of 578 cases reported.
