Angolan secretary of State for the Public Business Sector, Augusto da Silva Tomás, Wednesday in Benguela, central Angola, spoke out of the need for rapid measures by the State for the recovery, expansion and modernisation of the local school materials company (Emateb), Angop learned.

Augusto Tomás who was speaking at the end of a three-day visit to Benguela province, said it is important to support the recovery of the firm, regarded as strategic for the relaunch of the regional economy.

The official further said that the institution is facing legal, institutional, economic and financial constraints as well as lack of supply of raw materials for production of school materials, which hinders its functioning.

He highlighted the need for an early solution to facilitate the acquisition of a financing for the firm. With 96 workers, Emateb can produce 40,000 note-books per minute and 32,500 chalks daily. It imports raw material from South Africa.
