Luanda — Angola attended on April 02-05 in Lusaka, Zambia, a meeting of senior staff of member countries of Zambezi River Hydrographical Basin Commission (ZAMCOM).
The fact was announced to ANGOP, here, by the head of Planning and Environment of the Office of Support to Middle Kwanza (GAMEK), Rafael Miguel Neto who was part of the Angolan delegation.
According to the source, the country was represented by the national director for water, Armindo da Silva, who is also the Angolan coordinator of Zambezi Commission (ZAMCOM).
The meeting aimed at discussing the second phase of "Project 6" of Zambezi Action Plan (ZACPRO), which aims at facilitating the establishment of a commission for Zambeze River water course and developing a strategy of management.
Members of the Forum concluded that there is a need for countries of Zambezi river Basin, in a short time, to forward to SADC offices their process of ratification. The meeting was attended by Angola, Botswana, Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia and Zimbabwe. Tanzania did not show up.
