According to defence counsel, Lamin S. Camara, the previous case file of journalist Lamin Fatty from Kanifing Magistrates' Court has to be verified and mentioned on 24 April at the High Court. The case was called on Thursday 10 April, before Justice Naceesay Sallah Wadda in chambers. Counsel Camara said the typing of the 59 page file has been finished and was on its way from Kanifing Magistrates' Court to the High Court. He said the file will be verified and mentioned on the same date. He added that they will later take a date for the appeal to be heard.

It could be recalled that Lamin Fatty, a journalist working with the closed Independent Newspaper, was convicted by Magistrate Buba Jawo of the Kanifing Magistrates Court in June 2007 for false publication. Prior to that, Fatty was detained for 62 days before appearing in court. Counsel Camara decided to challenge the verdict at the High Court.
