Buea — "President Biya is not Methuselah. He can't be there forever or as long as people think," Achidi Achu told fellow CPDM militants in Wum, Saturday, April 5.

"We don't even know if he will stand elections in 2011," said Fidelis Nji, National Assembly Questor. The two CPDM barons were addressing the first YCPDM conference since the 2007 twin elections.

Achidi Achu said those who opposed constitutional amendment saying it was only for the benefit of the Head of State or was intended to make him life president, acted in ignorance.

After President Biya tabled the bill, he said, many of them realised that it was a good thing. He didn't state what exactly was good about the bill. All he said was that any Cameroonian willing to contest the 2011 polls can start preparing to do so.

Hon. Nji said the Constitutional Law Committee of which Richard Wallang, his fellow Menchum MP is a member, will examine the bill. He called on Wallang not to "dot an i or cross a t" but simply recommend the passing of the bill exactly as the Head of State sent it.

Addressing fellow CPDM youths and sympathisers, Anthony Mvo Dighambong, Menchum I YCPDM President, noted with mortification that no Menchum son or daughter has ever been appointed Minister, Secretary of State or even SDO.

He equally lamented the high rate of poverty and unemployment in Menchum, which to remedy, the youths of the Division should be given admission opportunities in prominent professional schools like ENAM, EMIA and CUSS.

He pleaded that a university be created in the Northwest Province with the faculty of Agriculture in Menchum. All speakers who spoke in the hall and later to the press were unanimous that Menchum has not been adequately compensated for the 100 percent victory the Division gave the CPDM in the July 2007 polls.
