Territory Administration deputy minister for the electoral process, Edeltrudes Costa, Thursday in Luanda considered as positive his eight-day work in southeastern Kuando-Kubango province, despite poor turnout of people recorded at registration posts, Angop learnt.

He expressed optimism that the situation will improve with the participation of traditional authorities, religious entities, non-governmental organisation and the civil society in sensitising and mobilising the people towards the electoral registration.

The deputy minister explained that in this updating stage, mobile brigades will only start functioning later and only for those locality of difficult access due to the distance between them and district headquarters. He regretted the poor turnout of political parties agents at consultation and claim posts, and seized the occasion to make appeal to register.

During his stay in Kuando-Kubango, Edeltrudes Costa visited Cuito Cuanavale where he assessed the functioning of the local registration post. At least 687 citizens have registered since the updating stage of the process started, said the deputy minister, adding that this data are provisional.
