Eritrea: Funeral Service of Veteran Fighter And Patriot Mohammed Seid Bareh Conducted in Solemn Manner

The funeral service of the late Mohammed Seid Bareh, veteran fighter and patriot, was conducted in solemn manner today at the Patriots Cemetery in the presence of President Isaias Afwerki, ministers, PFDJ heads, Army commanders, regional administrators, religious leaders, diplomats and tens of thousands of citizens. Veteran fighter and patriot Mohammed Seid Bareh, Coordinator of Local Government Affairs in the Office of the President, was martyred on April 8 due to heart stroke.

The body of the late Mohammed Seid Bareh moved from his residence to the Patriots Cemetery in the afternoon hours today escorted by a military procession and marching band, as well as President Isaias, members of the bereaved family, senior government and Front officials, Army commanders, diplomats and members of the public.

Prayers headed by the Eritrean Mufti, Sheik Al-Amin Osman, were subsequently conducted and the body of the late veteran fighter and patriot was made to rest at the Cemetery.

President Isaias Afwerki laid wreath on the tomb of the late Mohammed Seid Bareh on behalf of the people and Government of Eritrea. So did Veteran Fighter Romodan Mohammed Nur; Mr. Yemane Gebreab, Head of Political Affairs at the PFDJ, on behalf of the Central Office of the Front; General Sebhat Ephrem on behalf of the Defense Ministry; Ambassador Fisehatsion Petros on behalf of the Foreign Ministry; and Mr. Mustafa Nurhusein, Administrator of the Southern region, on behalf of all the regions.

Veteran fighter and patriot Mohammed Seid Bareh joined the armed struggle for independence in 1966 at the age of 16 and served the cause in different capacities, including in a senior leadership role in the EPLF, up to independence. Following liberation till his martyrdom, the late Mohammed Seid Bareh served his people and nation with dedication as Head of Foreign Relations, Administrator of Denkalia region, Head of Assemblies in the Ministry of Local Government and Administrator of Anseba region, as well as Coordinator of Local Government Affairs in the Office of the President.
