Luanda — Angolan head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, left Luanda on Saturday for Lusaka, Zambia, to attend the summit of heads of State and Government of the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC).
Accompanied by the first lady, Ana Paula dos Santos, the head of State was seen off at the Luanda's "4 de Fevereiro" airport by the acting speaker of the National Assembly, João Lourenço, the prime minister, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, and other cabinet members.
The Foreign minister, João Bernardo de Miranda, has also travelled to Lusaka.
The SADC heads of State and Government are discussing Saturday in Lusaka the political situation prevailing in Zimbabwe, following the authorities' delay in releasing the results of the presidential elections held on March 29 in that southern Africa country.
Angola, as the chair of SADC organ for coordination of politics, defence and security headed the regional organisation's observer mission for the Zimbabwe legislative, presidential, senatorial and local elections.
The head of State and his delegation are expected back in Luanda on Sunday.
