The Republic attorney assistant to the Audit Court, Manuel José Carlos, left Luanda Saturday for Cape Town, South Africa, to attend the conference on protection and optimisation of public funds set for April 14-17 this year.

Speaking to Angop at Luanda's "4 de Fevereiro" International Airport, Manuel José Carlos, said the meeting, jointly organised by the European Union and the South African Attorneyship, will be attended by 17 African countries.

The source said the main purpose of the meeting is to discuss the protection and optimisation of public funds, that is how this is done through auditing, enquiries and inspections.

Manuel Carlos will represent at the meeting the Angolan Republic attorney general, João Maria Moreira de Sousa.
