Luanda — The Malian ambassador to Angola, Farouk Camara, praised the way the legislative election is being prepared in the country set for September this year.
Farouk Camara said he was happy with the way the authorities have been leading the organisation of the process, with the participation of all political forces and other parties of the society.
The diplomat stated that, although Mali began with the multiparty system in 1991and has already held four presidential and legislative elections, the way the process is being prepared in Angola can serve as an example for his country.
Farouk Camara also praised the fact that periodically the Territory Administration minister, Virgílio de Fontes Pereira, who is also the coordinator of the Interministerial Commission for Elections (CIPE), regularly briefs the diplomatic corps on the stages and methodologies used in the organisation of the elections.
The Ambassador said that Mali will be inspired by the example of Angola concerning organisation of elections as, he added, Angola is a school for Malians, despite having started the democratic process earlier.
According to him, the solution to the problems following elections in the continent is very simple and has to do with fair, right and scientific preparation of the process.
Farouk Camara said that when the elections are not prepared properly there is a way for them to be contested, appealing to the African countries for the need to organise well their respective processes.
Mali opened its Angola embassy in 2002 and Farouk Camara is the second ambassador. Currently, about 3,000 Malians are registered with the embassy in Angola.
