The Shingrwa song competition program which was on broadcast via ERI-TV for over a year concluded today featuring a final show at Cinema Roma here in the capital. The show was transmitted live through ERI-TV.

Speaking at the opening ceremony in which government officials and invited guests took part, the Head of Organizational Affairs at the PFDJ, Mr. Abdalla Jabir, stressed the significance of culture at individual and community level.

The manager of the program, Mr. Yemane Kidane, on his part underlined the need for properly understanding the rules and techniques of music so as to produce quality musical performance. He further pointed out that the Shingrwa program is aimed at creating conducive ground for amateur artists to upgrade their skills, and thereby serve the society. Mr. Yemane noted that about 360 competitors from all the administrative regions and Operation Zones participated in the competition that went through 3 stages. Stating that 3 persons reached the final stage, he expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Information, the Cultural Affairs office at the PFDJ and others that made due contribution to the success of the program.

Although no music star has been sorted out, Tedros Mengistu stood first and was awarded 30,000 Nakfa and Asmara-Dubai-Asmara air ticket as an encouragement, while Seid Ibrahim stood second and was awarded 20,000 Nakfa and Asmara-Nairobi-Asmara air ticket, and Eyasu Tesfahunei stood third and was awarded 10,000 Nakfa and Asmara-Khartoum-Asmara air ticket.
