The provincial department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Fisheries and Environment expects to donate soon 25 boats to fishermen of northern Kwanza Norte province, ANGOP learnt.

According to the head of the Fisheries Department, Patrício de Andrade Constantino, the new fishing boats will replace those granted in 2007.

The official added that the old vessels, handed over in the light of the Programme of Boosting Artisan Fishing, shall be replaced because they do not fit to the fishing methods used in the region.

The old boats were 6 metres long and 2,5 metres wide, whereas the new have 4 metres in length and two wide, and were purchased by the Ministry of Fisheries through the Fund of Assistance to Artisan Fishing.
