Liberia is today receiving one of the world's leading hips pops musicians, Alieue Phieme alias Akon. According to organizers of tomorrow's show, the megastar will touch Liberia via the Roberts International Airport (RIA) soil of Liberia at about 9:00pm at the Roberts International Airport.
He is coming with a 15-man delegation including the management, security, and performers. He arrives on board a SLOK Air airline from Accra, Ghana. Miss Boss Lady International, organizer of the show says all is well for the hosting of the show which is expected to be set Monrovia on its heels.
This is the first classically international musical showbiz to be staged, and this is the doing of Cellcom, a contemporary GSM Company that seeks the interest and welfare of its customers. Cellcom took the pains (financial and material resources) to welcome its new era of technological communication.
Organizers were at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex yesterday, the venue of the show, to inspect progress made on the stage and other things. During the inspection, our reporter had the chance of talking with Madam Barkue Tubman, head of Miss Boss Lady Entertainment.
She said all is on course as far as the show is concerned." Through auspices of the management of CELLCOM, the organizers have all the VIP tickets, and the around the field tickets are about to finish".
According to her, the 90 percent work on the stage is being completed, adding that the gates will be opened from 3:00PM and Akon will take the stage from 8:00 pm to the break of dawn.
She noted that United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL), Bureau of Immigration, the Liberian National Police and other security agencies in the country are set to provide protection from the guests and the entire show.
Top management of CELLCOM, Information Minister, Rev. Dr. Laurence Bropleh, Immigration Commissioner, Col. Chris Massaquoi, the Fourth Estate, and Miss Boss Lady Entertainment will be at hand to receive the megastar and his delegation."
Crusaders For Peace Hails Pres. Sirleaf
The Executive Director of Liberia Crusaders for Peace, Culture Ambassador Julie Endee is commending President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf for the clarification she made last evening on state radio,ELBC, regarding the forthcoming musical festivities at the Antoinette Tubman and Samuel K. Doe sports complex.
In a press release issued yesterday, ambassador Endes said the fact that president Sirleaf has categorically stated that at no time did she stop the Liberia Crusaders For Peace from holding their program at the ATS, is a clear indication that she is indeed a twin mother who believed in the free enterprise system.
She said the clarification by president Sirleaf that has now laid the controversial matter to rest, is a further manifestation of government's interest in using culture to promote the campaign against the proliferation of small arms, lights weapons, sexual exploitation and HIV/AIDS control in Liberia.
Ambassador Endee is meanwhile calling on all musical and cultural artists to turn out massively next Tuesday, April 15 to participate in a parade throughout the principle streets of Monrovia, to be climax with a musical festival at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium in Monrovia.

The Culture Ambassador has at the same time reiterated that she has not interest in 'sabotaging' the forthcoming musical extravaganza hosting a fellow Western African, Akon, under the auspices of Cellcom, as is being alleged
Crusaders For Peace Hails Pres. Sirleaf
It is so wonderful when we can come together as one and enjoy festivities as the two festivities for April 14, 2008, and April 15, 2008; but, do we have to be in confusion, or do we have to compete with each other to be heard, or seen, or to show who has the higher influence?
What's wrong with having one event in this month (especially the Akon event), since he's a brother from elsewhere, and then have the cultural festival the following month? Is somthing wrong with that?
Another thing...Is there anyone... [Read Full Text]
I am in disagreement with Immigration Enforcement officers are being used to protect Mega Star Akon. Mr. Massaquoi, and the Liberian government should know better. One would assume the government is expecting an alien invasion. Use our resources wisely. This man has his own security. Liberian police could be used as back up, dealing with traffic and security for the Liberian people. Their should be no reason to have the NBI,AFL,NSA,SSS and IMMIGRATION.
P.S. If UNMIL wants to assist with security for AKON, that's good. ~DR. PELLAR
I'M SORRY DOC. BUT THERE WERE NO IMMAGRATION, SSS, AFL, OR NBI SECURITY OFFICERS SERVING AS BODYGUARDS FOR AKON. HE HAD HIS PERSONAL SECURITY AND WAS GIVEN 4 POLICE OFFICERS FOR BACK UP. PLEASE GET THE FACTS BEFORE GETTING ON THE MEDIA TO HAVE OUR GOVERNMENT REDICUED.
THANKS (CORNELIUS NAGBE PONEYS)
Cornelius, the original story was written by TLCAFRICA. Obviously It is not on the site anymore, it did not make any sense to have the "immigration and other security (OPEN) assist in Mr. Akon VIP Protection".The NBI,SSS,AFL ETC, were not named but they are part of our security network, which could be part of the others they were talking about. I guess you did not read the original story. THANK YOU. ~DR.PELLAR
