Township Rollers hammered struggling Jwaneng Comets 3-0 in a one sided Mascom Premier League game at the National Stadium on Saturday.

After the 3-2 defeat to Nico United in their last fixture, Rollers started the game on a high note but poor finishing let them down. Rollers gave Comets an early scare in the first minute when striker Bernard Semakwezi shot wide after receiving a clever pass from Edwin Moalosi. Thapelo Balepi and Moalosi were on top of their game and caused trouble for hapless and jittery Comets' defenders every time they were in possession.

Rollers got another scoring opportunity in the sixth minute after midfielder, Lesego Molemogi sent a good ball in the box from a free kick. Balepi's header was parried away by goalkeeper, Ntungamile Tshoganetso, but Musa Ohilwe shot wide from the rebound.

Comets tried hard in the middle of the pack but their final passes were a disappointment. Experienced striker, Jomo Bolofete worked hard but could not get good balls from the midfield. The Comets' goalkeeper made another good save to deny Edwin Olerile in the 23rd minute. But a minute later, Balepi put Rollers in front after a good ball from Semakwezi. A minute later, Balepi doubled the lead after a good build-up involving Moalosi and Olerile. At this time, Comets looked hapless while Rollers pressed forward. Thebe Maiketso wasted a glorious opportunity in the 28th minute when he ballooned his shot over the bar. Moalosi scored Rollers' third goal when he curled the ball in to an empty net after Balepi had dribbled the goalkeeper.

In the second half, Comets made changes but this did not trouble their opponents. Rollers looked even more relaxed in the second half when they introduced Zulian Phiri, Joel Mogorosi and Patrick Kasongo for Molemogi, Semakwezi and Balepi. Olerile wasted a chance in the 72nd minute after a good cross from Mogorosi. He was denied by the woodwork six minutes later. Rollers' supporters nearly pressed the panic button in the second minute of the referee's additional time when the lights went-off and the match had to be halted. The game resumed 10 minutes later after the lights came back.

The victory is a major boost for Rollers who want to finish the league in a better position. But for Comets, it was yet another nail in their relegation coffin.
