Asmara — The 4-day Central region Students Week under the theme "Education for All-round Development" concluded at the Asmara Stadium this week. At the closing ceremony, the Denden Secondary School soccer team was awarded a trophy, beating the Red Sea Comprehensive Secondary School's counterpart.
In the course of the Students Week, seminars on different topics including teachers and work ethics, education and nationalism and the role of female teachers, among others, were conducted. Moreover, different contests, competitions and other programs were featured at the Barka Secondary School, which was supplemented with a students' educational village.
The Administrator of the Central region, Mr. Tewolde Kelati, and the head of PFDJ in the Central region, Mr. Yusuf Sayik, handed prizes to those who demonstrated excellence.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, the head of the branch office of the Ministry of Education in the region, Mr. Girmai Gebrehiwot, stressed the paramount importance of education in nurturing productive citizens and building a prosperous nation.
Over 150,000 students, ranging from kindergarten to secondary school, participated in the event.
