Eritrea: Efforts Being Stepped Up to Nurture Productive Women Equipped With Knowledge And Skill, Says Ms. Leul

Asmara — The President of the National Union of Eritrean Women (NUEW), Ms. Leul Gebreab, stated that efforts are being stepped up to nurture productive young women equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills, and thereby promote their socio-economic wellbeing.

She indicated that the Union had offered vocational training last year in Dekemhare, Asmara, Barentu, Afabet, Assab, Keren and other urban centers to women from all the administrative regions. Ms. Leul went on to say that there are plans to organize more vocational training as part of endeavors to improve women's living standards.

Stressing the active participation of women equipped with knowledge and skill in reinforcing NUEW and promoting national development, she explained that the Union, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, is carrying out different programs in a number of high schools through establishing 28 committees and, as such, encouraging outcome has been registered.

Moreover, Ms. Leul pointed out that different facilities have been extended to over 1,650 women in different parts of the country in a bid to upgrade their living condition. Over 7,000 smokeless ovens have also been distributed to women in the Gash-Barka region, she added.
