Luanda — The German Airlines (Lufthansa) officially opened this Wednesday the Frankfurt-Luanda flight route, with its inaugural flight, which stopped over in the Angolan capital at 04am with 162 people on board.
The first group of passengers on board the Airbus A340- 300 airliner included the Assistant Minister to the Prime Minister, Aguinaldo Jaime, the Angolan ambassador to Germany, Alberto Bento Ribeiro "Kabulo", and the vice president of the company, Joachim Steinbach, who travelled to Luanda to witness the ceremony.
In this initial phase, Lufthansa will only fly once a week between the two cities.
According to Lufthansa's vice president in South East Europe, Africa and Middle East/Pakistan, Joachim Steinbach, with this direct flight between both cities, the clients will start having mutual advantages, since the two cities are important points of connections for various destinations.
In Africa the firm operates to South Africa, Angola, Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea and Ethiopia, among other destinations.
