Benguela — At least USD 5 million will be invested, this year, in Ganda District, south-western Benguela Province, in the recovery and construction of economic infra-structures, in light of the process of financial decentralisation in progress countrywide.
Speaking to ANGOP on Tuesday, the Ganda District assistant administrator, Artur Tomás, said that the investments are aimed at the recovery of the treatment system and supply of drinking water, supply and distribution of electric power, rehabilitation of roads, bridges, health posts and schools.
Besides the granted USD 5 million, there is an extra amount of USD 1 million for projects that aim at the reinforcement of the institutional capacity of local administrations, the administrator explained.
According to the official, the Ganda community should participate with ideas and suggestions in the elaboration of the programme to be implemented by the district administration.
National or local companies, with approved capacity and competence, might participate in the programme, through a public tender, with a view to selecting companies for the effect, Artur Tomas said.
Ganda is one of the five districts, out of nine, of Benguela Province that has been chosen for this experience.
