The Liberia Destiny Party (LDP) has commended its Standard Bearer Ambassador Nathaniel Barnes for striving to ably represent Liberia by "assisting President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf and the people of Liberia in lifting the stature of our country among the comity of nations thus attaining Liberia's strategic and developmental goals".

Barnes is Liberia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations and Ambassador to the Republic of Cuba.

In a release Tuesday, the LDP said, "We also want to commend other partisans of the Liberia Destiny Party, in both public and private sectors, who by their contribution continue to quietly be Agents of Positive Change impacting the health care delivery as well as the educational system of our nation".

The LDP recalled the role of Ambassador Barnes in the recent Liberian-Cuban inter-governmental commission which, according to the Party, resulted in the provision of 50 Cuban medical doctors to Liberia, academic scholarships and other avenues of cooperation.

These initiatives, the LPD said, "will significantly impact not only the health care and the educational systems of Liberia, but also other critical areas of development".

According to the LDP, it "remains an action oriented opposition political party that will continue to be engaged in a quiet but effective way with the government of Liberia in making a significant difference impacting the lives of the Liberian people".
