Luanda — The national judo team of Angola in males and females travelled on Wednesday to Mozambique, in order to defend the title of the Zone VI of the Superior Council of Sports in Africa, in a tournament to happen in Maputo city, from April 18 to 19.
The completion qualifies the athletes to the African Judo Championship, to happen in Morocco, where Angolan judo fighters Dinho Silva and Antónia de Fátima "Faia" will seek to qualify for the Olympic Games of Beijing (China), set to start in August 2008.
Athletes Dinho Silva, Ângelo António, Henrique João, David Afonso and Casimiro Bento travelled to represent the country in the males' class, whilst Antónia de Fátima "Faia", Josenaide Gourgel and Elma Inácio will represent the ladies class.
The delegation, which travelled through South Africa, is being led by the federation director, Quintino Cabral, and includes the main coach of the team, André de Sousa Sampaio, his assistant, Carlos Correia "Guda", and the international Angolan referee, José Malore.
