Luanda — Cameroonian renowned saxophonist Manu Dibangu will start this Thursday, in Luanda, a series of three shows under a contract with the Africa Today magazine, ANGOP learnt.
Considered as a Cameroon's golden voice, Manu Dibango is to perform on Saturday at Luanda's Atlântico Cinema and on Sunday at Miami Beach restaurant.
Born in Cameroon in 1933, Manu Dibango, who arrived in the Angolan capital on Thursday, is originally a classic piano player who started his career in Brussels and in Paris during the 50s decade.
In 1960, he joined in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the African Jazz Band, led by Joseph Kabesele, but later founded in 1963 his first band in Cameroon, and two years later he left for Paris.
His international discovery started in 1972 with the compact disk "Soul Makossa". Manu plays music such as reggae, soul, jazz, spirituals, blue and electro.
Manu Dibango has already released albums such as "Waka Juju", "Soft and Sweet", "Home Mad", "La Fete a Manu", "Gone Clear", "A la Jamaica", "Afrijazz", "Live 91", "Rasta Souvenir", "Negropolitaines", "Wakafrica", among others.
