The ruling MPLA first secretary to Kuando-Kubango Province, Joao Fernando Mucanda, on Wednesday here said his party will participate in September's elections in a responsible manner having into account the sensitising work done for this purpose.

The official was speaking during the opening act of the second extraordinary meeting of the MPLA considered that the party has been working with its militants and community to prepare for the poll.

Sensitising and mobilisation works have also been done so that civilians in illegal possession of fire-guns hand them over voluntarily to the authorities, under the ongoing disarming process.

The meeting had the participation of 56 people and was to end that afternoon.

Participants were to present the reports of the preparatory commission for the party's national conference, election of delegates to the mentioned conference, as well as a report from the electoral commission.
