Vice President Joseph N. Boakai and the Cabinet are expected to receive the Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon on April 21, 2008, Information Minister Dr. Laurence Bropleh told a news conference Wednesday.

The Vice President will receive Secretary-General Ban and his nine member delegation on behalf of President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf who is currently in Denmark at the invitation of the Danish government.

Minister Bropleh said the UN Secretary-General will address a joint session of the National Legislature at the Capitol and will also hold talks with officials of the United Nations Mission in Liberia as well as civil society organizations and UN agencies about progress made in the attainment of peace in Liberia.

This is Mr. Ban's first visit to West Africa and Liberia in his capacity as Secretary-General of the United Nations.
