Huambo

The secretary-general of the Angolan Christian Churches Council (CICA), Luís Nguimbi, on Thursday here manifested his satisfaction with the figures of the voluntary handover of fire-guns in illegal possession of civilians, which have been released by the National Police.

Speaking to ANGOP, rev. Luís Nguimbi said that the data on the disarmament process are positive, which makes one conclude that before the elections most fire-guns in possession of the citizens might be handed over to the National Police.

He informed also that the Church will continue to play its pedagogic and moral role in sensitising the citizens, so as to help guarantee a non violent electoral campaign.

Reverend Luís Nguimbi will stay two days in Huambo City during which he will witness the opening of the lithurgic year in the Manuel Unido Higher Institute, as well as visit socio-economic projects and present a workshop intended for theological and pastoral ethics reflections, among other activities.
