The National Institute for Professional Training and Employment (INEFP) signed in Maputo this Thursday and agreement with ESSOR-UPA Mozambique for the implementation of a three-year programme to offer professional training to young people in the country.

Under this agreement, ESSOR/France and the European Union have pledged to disburse one million Euros (1.520 million US dollars) to finance this project, which target is to give professional training to 900 young people by 2010.

INEFP general director Abiba Tamele told reporters that after training, these youngsters will benefit of traineeship, and later integrated in different projects depending on each student's profile.

He explained that this would contribute to meet the National Professional Training and Employment Strategy. With this strategy, the government expects to create one million new jobs posts by 2015.

The first phase of the strategy, budgeted at 175 million US dollars, is to run until 2010.

Tamele admitted that there are few professional training and employment projects in the country that benefit large number of people.
