A Cameroon Democratic Union, CDU, politburo member, DA Takoungang, has said his National Chairman, Adamou Ndam Njoya is the best President for Cameroon.

He spoke to The Post on April 11, while reacting to the amendment of certain articles of the 1996 Constitution by CPDM MPs.He expressed disappointment that Ndam Njoya's proposal of a modern constitution for the presidential mandate to be dropped from seven to five years was rejected.

"The act is a disgrace to democracy and portrayed the parliament as a fabrication of President Biya and his MPs," Takoungang said.According to him, Ndam Njoya is the only opposition leader that has remained loyal to his ideas.

He said the 1996 Constitution and even the recently amended constitution are for Biya and his CPDM party. "How can Biya trick the nation by putting in place a senate and regional council without text of application since 1996? Then he is now changing a constitution that has never been applied," Takoungang questioned.

He called on Cameroonians to remain calm and not to go on strike, because the masses would be the ones to suffer. He, however, contended that the next president would change the constitution for better.
