Luanda — Interclube, the only Angolan "survivor" in the Afrocup this year, might join the African Champions League's next phase, should it win the last qualifying game with Zamalek of Egypt, and go further in the competition, like other teams, Petro de Luanda in 2001 and ASA (2003).
In 2001, Petro de Luanda was eliminated in the semi finals, while Atlético Sport Aviãção (ASA) had a brilliant performance.
Interclube will play the first leg match between April 25-27 with Zamalek, in a game expected to be tough, due to the latter's background.
This year, in order to reach the last phase, Interclube, Angola's national champion, eliminated Cape Verde and Renacimiento of Equatorial Guinea. 1º de Agosto, Petro de Luanda and 1º de Maio were lagged behind in the second qualifying round matches.
