Lagos — As allegations of sexual molestation of female footballers by male coaches continue to spread, former Super Falcons star, Mercy Akide-Udoh has dared the girls who are in the habit of complaining to boldly come forward and spill the beans.
Raising a view over the matter Akide-Udoh encouraged players to mention the names of any coach who has subjected them to sexual harassment as a condition for selection, otherwise the matter will remain a mere speculation.
"I don't want to say anything about whether it is real or not. All I think is that any player that is complaining about sexual harassment from their coach should come out and say it boldly.
"They should not just be happy to raise allegations, without coming out to name those who are actually involved," the three-time African Female Footballer of The Year said in a chat with brilafm.net.
The FIFA soccer ambassador was, however, quick to condemn such act from any of the country's female football coaches and called on Nigeria Football Association to quickly set up secret panel to investigate the matter.
"I just want to appeal to the NHFA to ensure they make proper checks to see if anything like that is happening in the national teams, or even the clubs.
"At the same time, I want to warn the players to avoid allowing themselves be used. Any player who allows this to happen to her, just because she wants to wear the national colours, can face a disastrous end result and then get a debasing image," Akide-Udoh warned.
