Preparations for the 2008 examinations organised by the Ministry of Secondary Education (Minsec) are advancing. Immediate and long term pedagogic and administrative strategies have been put in place to ensure a hitch-free examination season. In two weeks, a meeting will take place at the Ministry of Secondary Education to measure the state of preparedness of all the different parties involved in the official examinations.

Nicodéme Akoa Akoa, Director of Secondary Education says examination organisation is an important aspect in an educational system, thus, all what is done in school must end up with an examination. That is why the Minister of Secondary, he adds, has placed pedagogy at the centre of its activities. According to him, there can be no evaluation without a well organised examination. The Minister of Secondary Education has consequently placed special stress on the proper organisation of this year's official examination as an educative system brings out it values through the credibility and competitiveness of its certificates issued after an examination.

Special pedagogic and administrative steps have been put in place in organising this year' official exams. On the pedagogic plan, there has been quality teaching of students and efforts to ensure that all the syllabuses are covered. Nicodéme Akoa says during the Easter holidays, classes were organised to reinforce student's capacity in what have already been taught as well teaching new topics. Administratively, immediate and long term preparations are taking place. The registration phase of students has already taken place.

On his part, Alain Blaise Bisse Bea, Sub-Director of Examinations and Certificates at the Ministry of Secondary Education, says the first publication of list of candidates has been done and sent to the various centres for correction before the final list of candidates will be published. The examination timetable has been published and the various examination centres have been designated. Innovations in this year's official examination is the creation of a committees charged with training all those involved in organising the official exams. The committee has already elaborated its plan of action which has been validated by the Minister of Secondary Education. At the external level the committee has already trained mission heads, heads of exam secretariat, presidents of juries, as well as heads of examination centres (principals). Principals have already trained those who are likely to invigilate the examinations. On the 29 of April, the special committee will train provincial delegates on how to manage exams information, funds and problems that may arise during examination session such as cheating.
