Tata Andreas Wokambe Molulu died Wednesday, March 26 at his Wondongo residence in Buea after a protracted illness.
The retired telecommunications engineer with the Ministry of Post and Telecommunication and one-time First Deputy Mayor of Buea (from 1997-2002) was born July 27, 1925.
Before Tata Molulu joined the telecommunications department, he had worked in Nigeria.
Thanks to his contributions to the telecommunications service, Molulu was frequently honoured by the government of Cameroon with medals of meritorious services.Retired from the civil service, he joined the municipal administration of Buea and would subsequently be elected First Deputy Mayor of Buea. During his sojourn at the Buea Council, Molulu was fondly called The Emblem.
Observers say that Molulu will be remembered for his efforts in modernising, improving the infrastructure of Buea, the surrounding villages and the rebuilding of the Buea Council Chamber during his tenure of office.
Family sources describe the deceased as a very quiet and family-oriented person, whose physical appearance disguised his true strength as a champion for the family, the cohesion of his community and the economic empowerment of the Cameroonian.
He is survived by his sister, a wife, nine children, 15 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
