Windhoek — President Hifikepunye Pohamba held a meeting with four bishops of the Lutheran churches on Wednesday to consult with them on a variety of topics.

An open letter that the four Lutheran bishops wrote earlier this month, expressing concern about peace in the country being threatened by political intolerance, was also discussed. "I cannot divulge details about this," said Bishop Erich Hertel of the German Lutheran Church afterwards. "The Head of State touched on a variety of topics and we exchanged our views in a fruitful way," Hertel said.

Bishop Tomas Shivute of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Namibia (Elcin) led the delegation, accompanied by Bishops Johannes Sindano (Elcin), Zephania Kameeta (ELCRN) and Erich Hertel.
