The former 1º de Agosto coach Nicola Berardinelli on Friday here voiced for the introduction of changes in the national football championship and a greater commitment to the initial classes, aiming for better performances in African competitions, ANGOP has learnt.

Commenting on the elimination of 1º de Agosto, Petro de Luanda and 1º de Maio de Benguela, in the continental competitions, he said that is due to those clubs' lack of competitive training, as the national soccer season starts late in comparison to others in the continent.

"Our teams have already won much experience and competitive maturity to level with other opponents in the continent and it is not fair that they get eliminated in the first stage of the competition", he said.

He also defended that the national championship should start in November or December, adding that the provincial and second division championships should be better structured, organised and regularly held, so that they can supply players with a competitive capacity above the average.
