Menongue — Most of the monuments and sites of the south-eastern Kuando Kubango Province are degraded, due to the war that devastated the country until 2002, on Friday said the head of the provincial culture department, Afonso Rafael Dala.
Commenting on the commemorations of the World Monuments and Sites Day (April 18), he said the province has 40 infrastructures considered as historical monuments and sites and that are in need of rehabilitation.
Among them are Mewne Vunongue, Cuangar, and Kuchi fortresses that will benefit from repair works, as well as Nossa Senhora Das Dores and Nossa Senhora de Fatima Churches, Mwene Vonongue tomb, Malova, Mavinga, Tyatyalula, Lomba and Mpumpa falls.
