Luanda — Angola's Home Affairs minister Roberto Leal Monteiro "Ngongo" on Thursday called on the National Police to be ready for the future challenges, which will put to test the corporation's technical, professional and human capacity, ANGOP learnt.
Speaking at the closing act of the broad consultative council of the National Police, the Interior minister said a modern, efficient and professionally competent police is what we need in this stage.
He explained that the premises to achieve this goal are modernisation of the work, equipping with technical means and valuation of human resources that will enable to achieve the outlined objectives.
The goal to reach, he said, is the combination between efficiency and competence, which will elevate the results achieved in all areas of police performance, bringing about as consequence the better quality of service for the society.
The official said it is important define well and standardise the methods for applying the policies of human resources and financial one, as well as administrative procedures for a better articulation among the organs of the corporation.
At the act, the minister spoke on the recent approval by the Cabinet Council of a diploma that creates the system of the social security with the Home Ministry, an important step for social protection.
The gathering analysed the organisation of the security process of the legislative elections scheduled for September this year, the 27th edition of the African Nations Cup that Angola is to host in 2010, as well as the disarming of civilians in possession of fireguns.
