Angola: Government Appeals for Conservation of Monuments

Huambo — The government of central Huambo province Friday here called on everyone to preserve and maintain monuments, as well as historical sites in the region, as they are cultural heritage of Angolan people.

The appeal is written in a message issued by Huambo province governor, António Paulo Kassoma, on the occasion of the celebration 18th April, International Monuments and Sites' Day.

In the message, governor Kassoma emphasises the existence in the region of some monuments and sites, such as Gandala Kawe stones (Caála district), Candumbo stones (in Tchikala-tcholoanga), the first well in Huambo and Quissala Fortress), among others, are examples of places that need special attention.
