The secretary general of Angola's Red Cross (CVA), Walter Quifíca, and Red Cross Germany delegate for Southern Africa, Hanna Schmuck, travelled to Ondjiva, southern Cunene province, to get acquainted with the execution of projects to benefit 6,500 HIV/AIDS patients.

According to a press release issued by the institution that Angop had got access, the programme will cater for 930 orphans, all victims of the disease, in Namakunde district, Kwanhama and Ombadja.

A source from CVA stated that the project was divided into two phases; the first started being implemented in July of 2007, with rehabilitation and equipping of CVA offices and recruiting of staff for the organization.

The second began in January and will last in 2009 with concrete actions, in favour of HIV/AIDS infected and affected people in the referred districts.

The source added that the plan, estimated at 998,000 Euro, funded by the European Union (75 percent) and Germany (25 percent), attends about 120,000 habitants.
