DESPITE the management being threatened, investigations into examination and other malpractices at the Law Development Centre (LDC) will continue, Supreme Court Justice Bert Katureebe has said.

"We shall investigate or cause to be investigated any malpractices and take appropriate action without fear or favour, so those of you sending threatening phone messages will not get results. We will also ensure that no one is victimised," Katureebe, who chairs the centre's management committee, said.

He was speaking at the 35th graduation ceremony on Friday, where 229 lawyers graduated with diplomas in legal practice and 232 others got diplomas in law. The ceremony was presided over by the Chief Justice, Benjamin Odoki.

Katureebe also said the management committee would propose a policy to reduce congestion at the centre.

The director, Elijah Wante, said some people had been dismissed over malpractices but they had dragged the centre to the court.

Odoki urged the graduates to uphold the image of the Judiciary, which has recently been criticised over corruption.
