Angola: Youths Urged to Give Priority to Disarmament

Malanje — The provincial director of Public Order of the National Police, superintendent Carlos Issaka Friday in Malanje city urged youths to consider the process of disarming citizens illegally owning firearms as one of the priority tasks of the current context.

Speaking on "The youth and disarmament", in the light of the festivities of April 14, Angolan Youths Day, the officer said that youths should be mobilised for the effect.

Carlos Issaka, who was speaking in representation of the provincial commander of the National Pilce, sub-commissioner Domingos Moniz, stated that youths should mobilise and sensitise the population for them to voluntarily hand over illegal firearms under their possession, as well as denounce likely weapons hideouts.

"Angolan youths are the boosting force of this important process and, thereby, should contribute decisively in the handing over of firearms under the illegal possession of the population".

According to him, the role of the youth in disarming citizens illegally owning weapons is shown in the search for multi-sectoral development, in the goodwill of peaceful dwelling together among members of the same community.
