Players of the national women's U-20 football team, Falconets, have arrived safely in the Cameroonian city of Douala after the scare of an emergency landing in Port Harcourt truncated their trip last Wednesday.
A team of 25 players, seven technical officials and four administrative persons then, went from Douala to Yaounde, the Cameroonian capital, by road, and delegation leader Amanze Uchegbulam said: "I can assure you that every one of us has put the incident behind and we're focusing on the World Cup qualifying match".
The Nigeria Football Association wrote to CAF for a 24-hour grace, so that the match can be played on Sunday instead of today. CAF has granted the request and the game now comes up inside the Ahmadu Ahidjo Stadium on Sunday afternoon. This much was contained in an NFA press release signed by the chief media officer, Ademola Olajire.
On the trip as well are NFA Executive Committee members, Stephen Gyebgon and Bola Ngozi Jegede, and accompanying secretary, Bola Oyeyode. Players are: Marbel Egwuenu, Margaret Dike, Amarachi Okoronkwo, Doris Evhubare, Esther Edem, Esther Michael, Tawa Ishola, Ebere Orji, Ogonna Chukwudi, Rita Chikwelu, Glory Iroka, Chidinma Harrison, Sarah Michael, Faustina Ugwuadu, Joy Jegede, Onyinyechi Ukaonu, Martina Ohadugha and Rebecca Kalu. Technical officials are Daniel Evumena (Head Coach), Christopher Danjuma, Justine Madugu (Assistant Coaches), Omoye Akhigbe (Doctor), Adaku Eze-Obika (Physiotherapist), Faith Ben-Anuge (Secretary) and Taye Odimayo (Curator).
