Windhoek — THE Friedenheim Hostel at Otjimbingwe has received a donation of 100 new mattresses from Dr Peter von Seck and the Kulturverein Deutschland-Namibia (KV D-Nam).
Dr von Seck farms on the farm Okandukaseibe, which borders on Otjimbingwe, and during a talk with Hendrede !Owoses, matron of the hostel, he heard about the hostel's need of new mattresses.
Dr von Seck is a member of KV D-Nam, which was founded 10 years ago to foster cultural ties and support poverty-alleviation projects. The community of Otjimbingwe is the main benefactor of the organisation. In the past years the Da Palm Secondary School and the Primary and Secondary School Otjimbingwe have received donations which helped to establish a netball field and a garden, among other things. The next big project is the building of a community hall that can be used by the schools or for community meetings. The Kulturverein Deutschland-Namibia is a very small organisation with mostly volunteer members who have the well-being of especially the Otjimbingwe community at heart.
People who would like to find out more about he organisation and its work at Otjimbingwe, or who would like to contribute to the school hall or the many other projects, can send an e-mail to info@drvonsech.de.
