After only three years in operation and a Gold Medal award for excellence in business services from the foundation for excellence in Business in Geneva, Switzerland, Hotel Amahoro, on April 11, 2008 added a new 80-seater ultra modern conference hall to its accomplishments.

The Minister of Trade, Industry and Tourism, Mrs. Euphrasie Bigirimana chaired the opening ceremony for this state of the art facility. Also present was the Deputy Minister of Planning, Mr, Tabu Abdallah, Manirakiza.

The conference hall, boasts up-to-date sound and translation equipment (complete with translation booths for 4 translators) for up to 100 persons. It is fully air-conditioned and has high speed internet wireless connection. The translation equipment is mobile and can be re-located to another venue when necessary.

The terrace now boasts of the conference hall and a restaurant with a breathtaking panoramic view of the city. This is also fully built up and has glass windows all round that permit a truly fantastic view of the city, the mountains surrounding the city and Lake Tanganyika.

Hotel Amahoro, a three star hotel, was opened in October 2003 with 33 fully self contained rooms. Started by a group of Burundian business entrepreneurs, the construction of this hotel commenced in 2001 and culminated in this four storied building.

"The hotel still currently has 33 self contained rooms with 27 deluxe rooms. The deluxe rooms include air-conditioning, fridge and warm water. All the rooms have televisions with satellite reception, including DSTV, telephone sets and high speed wireless internet connection," said Mr. Pierre Claver Hakizindavyi, the General Manager of Hotel Amahoro.

In October 2003, the hotel only had an internet café and business center next to the lobby to cater for the business traveler that now is used for secretarial work like photocopying and printing.
