Dundo — The Angolan government will invest 21.160 million U.S. dollars in the construction and improvement of systems of drinking water supply, in Chitato, Cambulo, Cuango, Cuilo, Caúngula and Lucapa districts, in the northeastern Lunda Norte Province, ANGOP learnt this Monday, in Dundo City.
According to the provincial director for electricity and water, Luís Marques, who informed that the project is in the ambit of the national programme called "water for all" and over one million of the amount will be used to open new boreholes, whereas USD 160,000 will be spent in rebuilding the old water supply network.
The source assured that the project is going to be done by 80 per cent until 2012 and 40 per cent of the local provincial government actions will be channelled, until the end of this year, to the communes and other areas that will benefit from the project.
Concerning the beginning of the works, Luís Marques guaranteed that everything is ready to start with the undertaking at any time.
The official said that the implementation of this project will guarantee treated drinking water to the populations of Lunda Norte Province, who before had not benefited from the programme of rebuilding water treatment and distribution centres.
