Monrovia — The General Overseer of the Greater Refuge Temple Church, Bishop Nathaniel N. Zarway has told employees of The NEWS Newspaper to make a difference in the discharge of their duties.
He said as a people with the responsibility of informing the nation about events, they must ensure that they discharge their duties in accordance with God's word.
Bishop Zarway made the assertion Sunday at his Church where staff of The NEWS went to worship as they begin activities marking the 19th anniversary of the institution.
The worship service also coincided with the climax of a five-day Apostolic Fire Crusade and Conference organized by the Living Word Outreach Ministries International based in Sierra Leone.
The Liberian Clergyman challenged the NEWS' family to always report nothing but the truth.
According to him, the people of Liberia and the world over depend on media institutions to know the day to day happenings in the country, and as such, The NEWS must ensure that what it prints must be accurate, truthful and factual.
He observed that journalists are very important people in the society because without them, evils in the society would be hidden, adding "that is why we want you to do your work in accordance with God's direction."
The Liberian clergyman said journalists should serve as a light in darkness in order to expose the ills in society.
The Bishop admonished employees of the paper not to allow anything to stop them from doing that which is right.
Bishop Zarway: "The work that you do needs God to direct and lead you so that you will not be bribed to do the wrong things; this is why I believed that you chose to come to Church to seek God's guidance; therefore, let God lead you in your work."
He commended the The NEWS for its credibility, professionalism and independence over the years, and prayed that God would lead the employees in the years ahead.
